Does ELS guarantee principal?

I went to the bank and they recommended me to join ELS because I'm not familiar with this side. They said the interest rate is about 3.5~5% instead of the regular installment savings, so I think they'll trust me to join ELS

Is it really close to guaranteeing principal?
