Is there a reason to make the back of the cell phone with tempered glass?

I think it's because the front of the cell phone is glass because I have to touch it, but why is the back of the cell phone glass?

It doesn't look like you need to use tempered glass on the back,

It would be stronger if you just use an iron plate.
