In case of the same salary and different taxes

I showed each other the salary statement with my close co-worker, and I saw that he/she took more taxes even though they had the same annual salary. I like it, but is there a reason why they have the same annual salary is the same? Aren't you supposed to take out taxes by measuring the ratio from the original income?
